24 Day Challenge

I did a food journal for 2 days for my trainer this week and came to the conclusion that I do not eat enough throughout the day most days. Eating very little or at odd times will slow down your metabolism, I know I have messed my metabolism up this way. Often I begin my day with a banana and an Advocare Spark. Then I drink water until I have a lunch of something like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then I won't eat again until after I work out in the gym. Dinner tends to be late, snacking at home or I eat out. I have realized that what I eat isn't enough fuel for a good workout so I have set a goal to make some changes.

Tomorrow I will begin the Advocare 24 Day Challenge along with my workouts. It will give my body a jump start towards getting healthy. I'll start with a 10 day cleanse, carefully watching what I eat. No red meat, no sugar, no dairy, no alcohol. So I will be eating lots of vegetables, some fruit and some lean meat such as chicken and fish. I have stocked my fridge and washed the vegetables for my lunch tomorrow. The cleanse is all natural, easy on the body and by the end of those 10 days you feel better and have more energy. This is my 3rd cleanse this year, the first time I lost 14lbs and the second time I lost 11.
I hope to have even better results this time as I had not been working out at all this past year. So I will post the results, lets all hope for the best.

Starting out

Early 40's yet not quite pushing 45 or even 50 and I want to feel like I did when I was 30. And so I'll begin. I joined a gym as a birthday present to myself this year and set a goal to be even more fabulous than I already am in one year. I know that I have a long way to go and that it isn't going to be easy.
So I am starting this blog for two reasons. 1. To document my progress and change along the way, the ups AND downs. And 2. to make myself accountable for my own goal.

They say the best way to accomplish a goal is to write it down and to tell someone else, this way I kill two birds with one stone because sooner or later someone will read this. And if you are reading, I welcome advice and tips as well as any and all cheer-leading along the way.

I won't post my beginning weight, however I will say that I'd love to lose about 60 lbs. I want to do it in a healthy, life changing way so that the change is not just a "quick fix".
I joined the gym a week ago yesterday, so far I have only skipped one day. I have mainly worked a little cardio on the elliptical and bike, walked on the track and done a few exercises on the weights.
Today, I signed up with a trainer. I'll call her "A" for any future post to protect her privacy. And to tell the truth ... she worked my butt off! I'm not a fan of squats and lunges, yet she had me doing that and more. I'll meet with "A" once a week to work out and she will provide direction for my work outs on the the days that I am not with her.
So, here goes ..... I'm on my way to Fabulous!!
